well, nike is a pretty easy coapmny to hate because of their record of offensive behavior in the 3rd world for the past 40 years!you're right, they have been trying to improve conditions for sure and those changes seem to be coming a lot more quickly since phil knight stepped down as CEO - the fact that they've been trying to do the right thing for, what, 5 maybe 10 years now is nice but they've got a pretty big hole to dig themselves out of, IMOit's probably worth noting that your recommended google search ("nike current factory conditions") primarily yields articles that are 5+ years old - nike put up that whole "corporate responsibility" sub-site a few years ago, but they haven't posted much (if anything) since roughly 2009 - it's also worth noting that for every article that nike writes about how they're stepping up their game, one can find another article stating how it's "not enough"and for "E": you've definitely hit on something - I can't think of any electronics manufacturer that runs factories outside the 3rd world - for a variety of reasons (moral, economic and environmental), I actively encourage people to consider buying secondhand or refurbished electronicsas far as sneakers are concerned, I'm quite proud of being a New Balance customer - I bought my first pair of US-made NB cross trainers in 1999 and I haven't seriously considered switching to another brand since then :)before I jump off the soap box here, I just want to say that the US economy is in pretty rough shape - manufacturing jobs have been the cornerstone of our economy since the beginning - companies kept pushing these low-skill jobs to other countries and, surprise surprise, the higher-skill jobs weren't far behind - one sure way to get us out of this mess is to vote with your wallet - no, you won't find a US-made ipad, but you sure can find US-made shoes - if you have the choice, consider supporting your countrymen ryan - I'm sorry I ran amok on your blog - I'll try not to let it happen again haha
